Baby milestone photos: when to book
There are really three windows in a baby’s first year — and each one closes faster than parents expect.
Newborn: the first two weeks
Between day 5 and day 14 a newborn still curls into the shapes they held in the womb and sleeps deeply through being posed. By week three that is gone and does not come back, so this is the window to book while you are still pregnant.
Sitter session: six to nine months
As soon as a baby can sit up unsupported — usually around six months — you get a wonderful few weeks where they stay where you place them, hands free, looking straight at you. Once they crawl and pull to stand, that stillness disappears.
First birthday and cake smash
The cake smash marks turning one. We build a set around a colour you choose, let the cake happen and photograph the mess honestly. It is playful, quick and completely of that age — bring a change of clothes and expect to laugh.
Booking around naps and feeds
Babies photograph best when they are well rested and fed. Mid-morning is usually the best hour, and we work around naps and feeds rather than through them. Sessions run 45 to 60 minutes at this age, which is the honest limit.
Plan the year, not just one shoot
Many parents book the newborn, sitter and first-birthday sessions as a set so the whole first year is documented. Tell us your baby's due date or age and we will map out the right timing together.
