Choose the mood of the set

Most festive sessions fall into three moods. A warm living room — tree, fireplace, string lights — feels cosy and timeless. A white winter wonderland with snow and soft gold light feels dreamy and is lovely for little girls and babies. A Christmas village street with red accents, a mailbox for Santa and a little bicycle feels playful and full of story. Pick the mood first; outfits and poses follow from it.

Poses that work with children

Children are not models, so the best frames come from small activities: reading a Christmas book together, unwrapping a present, hanging a bauble on the tree, a sibling hug or a parent lifting a toddler towards the lights. We give them something to do and photograph the moment, not a stiff line-up.

Colours and outfits

Cream, camel, ivory, deep green and burgundy look rich against festive lights. Velvet, knit and tulle photograph beautifully. Avoid big logos, neon colours and bright synthetic reds, which reflect onto skin. Coordinate rather than match — one shared colour across the family is enough.

Baby's first Christmas

Babies from around six months, once they can sit, are perfect for the set — a snow globe, a soft blanket or a little sleigh is all they need. Keep the session short, schedule it after a nap and bring a favourite toy. For newborns, a festive setup can be added to a newborn session.

Decide early whether you want a vertical card, a horizontal one or a square for social media, and tell us on the day — we leave space for text in a few frames. Preview photos arrive within 72 hours, so the card can be printed and posted well before the holidays.
